Microsoft Security EssentialsMicrosoft Security Essentials (MSE) (voorheen codenaam Morro) is een gratis antivirus software gemaakt door Microsoft, dat bescherming tegen virussen, spyware, rootkits en Trojaanse paarden voor Windows XP, Vista en 7 biedt. MSE vervangt Windows Live OneCare (een abonnement antivirusservice) en Windows Defender, dat alleen gebruikers tegen adware en spyware beschermt. Het is bedoeld voor thuisgebruik, in tegenstelling tot Microsofts komende onderneming georiënteerde product Microsoft Forefront.
